Ceske-Budejovice

Ceske-budejovice Ceske Budejovice is situated about 170 km South of Prague. In 1265, the king Premysl Otakar II ordered the creation of this city in order to stop the quick growing of the strong family Vitkovic, which was not under the control of the kingdom yet, in the South of Bohemia. This metropolis of the south Bohemia shelters many architectural and historical celebrities. The "black tower" and the "Samson" fountain are together the symbol of Ceske Budejovice. With its large area (one hectare), and its nice houses with arcades, the city square is among the most beautiful and the biggest ones in Europe. There is a regional museum where visitors can find the steps of the first train in Europe. The works of this first line started in 1825 and it linked Ceske Budejovice to Lenz (Austria). Visitors can also visit the famous brewery Budweiser that is just a few hundred meters from the city center.
